If there is one thing that is consistent about 2020 it is that no amount of planning and preparation can guarantee the outcome we hope for. After about a month of deep soul searching and a bit of conversation with the world’s best coach, Billy, I have decided to postpone my first 70.3 race to next year. I really feel like I have prepared enough to complete the race on December 5th. I have improved by leaps and bounds in all disciplines, especially the bike. However, I believe it is in my best interest to hold off on racing and take the next year to really build on that confidence and improve my skills.
What does that mean for the blog? A few things. This gives me the opportunity to improve on my goal of bringing you all along on the journey and updates with more consistency. It gives me a chance to build a wider knowledge base and grow my experience and share those things with you all. Finally, it gives you all the opportunity to see how a full season with A and B races and various levels of triathlon work. I hope to provide reviews of the races I compete in, as well as updates on how my training and goals are progressing.
Next week I’m going to talk about the process of picking my races for next year, goal setting, and looking forward to the year ahead.
